3. Use an Ice Pack
Using a cold pack will help to dull the pain and relieve the stiffness. Sit in a comfortable chair and relax your shoulders. Place the ice pack (a packet of frozen peas makes a good substitute if you don’t have one) on the back of your neck at the base of your skull, or on the side which is sore, and leave it in position for five to ten minutes. It’s a good idea to wrap the ice pack in a cloth to prevent it sticking to your skin. For best results repeat every 2 – 3 hours until relief is obtained.
