11 Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism

Individuals who suffer from hyperthyroidism have their thyroid gland producing excessive amounts of the thyroid hormones. The thyroid is a gland which release hormones controlling the metabolism, heart rate, nervous system, weight, body temperature among other functions.

With an overactive thyroid, some of the body’s processes speed up and can easily trigger symptoms related to a high metabolism. However, since hyperthyroidism can mimic other health problems, it can make getting a diagnosis challenging. Some of the symptoms to watch out for may include the following

1. Fatigue

Thyroid related fatigue is distinct from other types of fatigue in the sense that it makes it very difficult for individuals to sustain energy long enough. This is especially in relevance to their prior level of ability or fitness. With a weakened thyroid foundation, individuals will notice that sustaining energy becomes more difficult and they do not possess the energy to engage in activities they used to do previously.

In addition, they may also suffer from heavy headedness, particularly in the daytime, as the head is a sensitive indicator of the status of thyroid hormones.
