1. Salt water gargle
This is an age old trick that really does work. For generations people have been gargling warm salt water in order to treat a sore throat, and even today it could be one of the best solutions. The reason it works is that the salt water decreases the swelling of the mucous membranes.
The salt in the water draws out fluids, and so it is able to draw out the fluid that is causing the inflammation within your throat. Every time you gargle salt water, more fluid is drawn out from your throat and will help you breathe more easily and swallow without pain.
To do this, just take a cup of warm water and add half a teaspoon of normal table salt. Make sure the salt is completely dissolved, and gargle. Repeat this process three times a day, or whenever you feel it is needed, and you will soon notice the results. Don’t do this in excess, however, as you could make your throat too dry.
