2. Heat application
While cold will numb the area, heat will help improve blood flow to the injured muscles and tendons. The application also increases the flow of oxygen and other nutrients to the area, helping heal damaged tendons. Another benefit of heat application is that it facilitates stretching the soft tissue in the area and decreases the associated stiffness.
Heat can be applied to the affected area by using a hot water bottle or a sand/rice heating bag. Apply twice a day to the affected area for 10 minute intervals.
