Tendonitis is an inflammatory condition in which tendons in the body get irritated and inflamed due to overuse, injury, or excessive strain in the affected area. While tendons are fibrous structure that connect the muscles to bone all over the body, tendonitis most commonly occurs in the shoulders, wrist, heels or elbows. The main symptoms of the condition are tenderness, limited movement, swelling, and pain the affected area that is aggravated by the movement of muscles there.

1. Apply an ice pack
As is the case with other types of injuries involving pain and swelling, an ice pack may be applied to the affected muscles. This can help decrease the inflammation as well as subside the pain in the tendons. Applying an ice pack is also one of the simplest, safest and most effective self-care techniques used for muscular or joint pain, injury and discomfort. Ice decreases muscle spasms in the area as well as reduce the amount of swelling.
When applied immediately after injury, an ice pack initially feels cold that soon turns into a pricking/ burning sensation.
