Antioxidants perform an essential role in the body–they stop oxidization. Curcumin is packed full of antioxidants which stop “free radicals” from reacting with DNA and proteins. These “free radical” are molecules that can harm the body and antioxidants stop them from doing that. It neutralizes a free radical compound and turns it into a stable structure so that it causes no serious harm. Curcumin does much more than just stop them, however–it also tells the body to start producing more antioxidants.
