11 Natural Remedies for Poison Oak

3. Aloe Vera

Anyone venturing into the great outdoors would do well to make sure they always have a tube of Aloe vera gel with them. Aloe vera has been used for centuries to soothe and treat skin ailments. Aloe vera has wonderful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and will ease the itch and reduce the swelling that results from contact with poison oak. The leaves of the Aloe vera plant can also be used. Simply break off a leaf, slit it lengthwise and scrape out the inner gel. Apply this directly to the affected areas. Keep applying as often as needed until relief is obtained.
