8. Make Sure Your Workspace Is Ergonomically Correct
Working in a non-ergonomically correct position is one of the most common causes of neck stiffness. Change the height of your chair or your computer screen so that you are not constantly looking down or to one side. Your screen should be at eye level and straight in front of you. If you use a tablet or cell phone, try to hold it up so that you don’t look down for any length of time. Take frequent breaks if you can’t and do some neck stretches and shoulder rolls to release the tension. Don’t carry a heavy bag on one shoulder continuously, change shoulders regularly to prevent strain on one side. Better still, get a bag with straps for both shoulders.
