6. Strengthen the Neck Muscles
Strengthening the muscles in the neck will help prevent neck stiffness. Here are four simple exercises that you can do anywhere, anytime, that will strengthen your neck muscles. First, sit upright in a chair. Make sure your neck and shoulders are relaxed. Put the palm of your hand on your forehead and press your head forward, at the same time pushing back with your hand. Keep up the pressure for 5 seconds, then relax. Second, place your right hand on your right ear. Press your head against your hand and resist with your hand for five seconds. Do the same on your left side. Third, place your right hand on the right side of you face in front of your ear. Try to turn your head to the right while resisting with your hand. Keep up the pressure for five seconds, then relax. Now do it with your left hand on the left side. Fourth, Link your fingers together and place behind your head. Now press the head backwards while resisting with your hands for five seconds. Repeat each exercise five times.
