You can massage you neck very effectively yourself, or you can make use of the services of a massage therapist or physiotherapist. To massage your own neck, start by warming it up with a heating pad, hot water bottle or hot towel. Then begin by rubbing up and down the neck with your hands. You can use a massage oil or lotion to help lubricate and prevent pulling the skin. Rub slowly and firmly and work round from one side to the other. Next, use your fingertips to gently rub in a circular motion, starting in the area where the stiffness is most acute, but covering the entire neck.
