4. Heat It Up
Try alternating the ice pack with heat. Heat helps relax the muscles and increases circulation. The simplest way is to have a hot shower and allow the hot water to flow over your neck and shoulders. Alternatively, use a heating pad, a hot water bottle or simply soak a towel in hot water, wring it out and wrap it around your neck. You can also heat a towel by putting it in the dryer for a few minutes. Keep the heat on for five minutes and repeat every half hour until relief is obtained. Avoid excessive heat as this could aggravate the symptoms.
