10. Stay Trim and Manage Your Weight
Being overweight puts a great strain on all the muscles in the body and especially those in the neck. An extended belly forces the upper spine backwards and the neck forward, resulting in neck strain. A simple way to check if you are overweight is to check your body mass index. To do this, simply divide your weight (in kilograms) by you height (in metres). Underweight is defined as <18.5, normal weight is 18.5 – 24.9, overweight is 25 – 29.9 and obese is 30 and above.
